I have been a student for almost 20 years...in post secondary education. Never in my life have I faced so many obstacles to completing work. Last semester my bed bug situation turned my home (literally) upside down for a month. This delayed the completion of assignments. I turned in more late assignments last semester than I have in all my years of being a post secondary student! The result for one course was a 76 (still a B but well below my usual high 80s-mid 90s). Yikes!
I was on campus at Providence all last week taking a course from 8:30-3:30 daily. I had the worst cold in years hit me full force on Monday and it is only now starting to ease. That affected my ability to concentrate and put clear thoughts together. I handed in most assignments there but have a 10-12 page paper yet. Maybe I can redeem myself there.
As I walked off campus on Friday the reality of my potential accomplishment started to hit me. I have been working on my Masters degree for 15 years. I have worked at it all on my own. I have paid for it all on my own. I absolutely LOVE my family but I'm fairly certain they don't fully get what I'm studying or why. That is ok. They love me just as much as I love them.
I do not think I 'fit' the typical mold of a seminary student. I am ok with that too. My only struggle now is to get the work done I need to. I am feeling very alone in my efforts to finish this degree. I am struggling to balance work, life and studies but feeling as though I am not doing nearly as well as I could. I have no idea what to do or where to turn for help that might be needed.
However, I am strong and (some days) smart. I will do this. And on April 25 I will graduate. This is possibly the greatest accomplishment of my entire life. I have tears in my eyes as I type this. I have faced great adversity in life since beginning this journey. I am certainly not stopping now!

so proud of you. I am curious if you should describe why it is you are studying and what so your family (and friends) can understand what it is you are so passionate about.
ReplyDeleteyay you!
