Ugh...

Today I am extremely frustrated living where I live. I will vent and be fine tomorrow. There are so many things I love about the West End. I even love my little third floor flat (most days). But I was so frustrated coming home tonight and having no where to park. I usually park behind the church next door. But the snow has not been shovelled there so cars parked in ways that took up more room than usual. I came home thinking I want a home of my own. I would love to own a house. Yet a part of me would not want to live alone in a house. I feel safe and secure in my flat. Nothing ever happens in my building (that puts me in danger). I'm now on the top floor so I hardly hear anything else going on. Yet there is something about having a space of my own that is tranquil and solely mine I like the idea of. However, I do not want all the responsibilities of a house at the moment. I always remember that and then put the idea on a shelf somewhere. I'll wait and find a nice man with a hou...

Post Christmas...

So Christmas is done. The fact I celebrated with family last weekend gave me a whole day off and complete peace and quiet. It was great! I am wonderfully refreshed and have enjoyed another day of quiet. Well I went to a friend's for breakfast this morning and we had fun working on a crazy hard puzzle for a while afterwards. But thinking back on yesterday I have to say it was nice to be home alone. Maybe some think that sounds sad. For the introvert in me it was great. I remember being alone in Ireland on Christmas and that was hard. I was very sad to wake up with nothing that proclaimed it was Christmas. Thankfully, those days are behind me. Now I have a great life, my family is doing really well and I am very content. So this made for a perfect Christmas. If only I had been able to finish my homework.

Two more sleeps until?

I had a hard time concentrating at work today. I also had a couple of overtime hours from last week so I left early and took the bus to Polo Park. I feel free to admit I like taking the bus. I have a car. I love my car. I just like to take the stress out of driving and take the bus. Yes, it is also better for the environment. People still think I'm mad taking the bus though. I had Christmas with family last Saturday so come Friday I will have a day free to do whatever I like. In my case, it will be homework, whether I like it or not. However, I'm excited about having a day where nothing else will take my time. No one will be phoning. No one will be wanting me to do something with or for them. I can sit in pyjamas and read as well as bake. Shopping when Christmas is done before Christmas arrives is odd. It was relaxing and enjoyable. The sales were ok. I was there looking for a dress. I didn't find one but I did find a lovely wrap type cardigan thing that will look lovely wi...

Its a beautiful day...

I am feeling very accomplished at the moment. I had a productive day at the Cafe, went to renew my membership at the U of W to use their track and bought some groceries at Safeway. And I'm still home with lots of time to do homework! I also don't feel a need for a nap. The membership at the U of W is cheap because I live in the Spence Neighbourhood. It is only $90 from January-August. I can walk there and it is cheaper than running at Pan Am. That is good as I need to start training for the WPS Half Marathon in May. As I was walking there, and home again, I was thinking about how much I love my area. I passed a few people I know who live around here and I was able to wish them a Merry Christmas. Maybe that seems small to some people but to me it says community. It also made me think about a job offer I received recently and was prompted to consider again today. It would take me to a different area but pay considerably more. It would be a great job in a lot of ways. I think the ...

Sigh...

Today is the shortest day of the year. Yay! It is all improving from here. It is also my special friend Solomon's birthday. He is now 6. I was able to invite myself over there this evening and had a great time, as usual, with all four boys. They are some of my favourite little people. I was so happy to have so much time with them. I learn a lot from my relationships with all little people. But I have learned a lot from these four inparticular. I have learned unconditional love. I know the joy of being the one they choose to read them the bedtime story. I feel overwhelming delight when I am the one they want to sit with or hold hands when walking along. I love little people. Then I come home and see how some little people here are out late, only fed one meal a day, not being taught in school (because they are not in school or the teacher is overwhelmed). Yet I love these ones just as much. Some days I wish I had little people of my own. Then I think it is good that I ...

Hmm...how's this for an intro?

Well here is my first blog post. I thought the title 'B S' is great considering those are my initials. No hidden meaning there either. I have no idea how often I will post on here but I hope those who read it enjoy. My life is certainly never dull. The potential for great conversation is immense. I also hope to inspire and encourage others through this... Thanks for joining me!
