Wow, what a day. I am honestly still in a bit of shock. I am in the last two weeks of my current job. It is a job I have loved and worked hard at. I love my staff. They truly bring me joy. They are witty, funny, kind, gracious, forgiving, understanding, hard working, caring and I could go on and on. I can not express enough how blessed I am to know them.
For the past two and a half years I have run a small Cafe in the West End of Winnipeg. It is not the greatest area of the city but I love it. Customers at the Cafe are made up of white collar, blue collar and no collar. I love them all. They are witty, funny, kind, gracious, forgiving, understanding, caring and I could go on and on.
However, my time is come to an end there. Yes, somewhat unexpectedly to me. But as I think about it, they why is not nearly as important as the how. The how you may ask? Yes, how. How do I exit well? How do I set things up to the best of my ability so all these people I care so much about do not struggle when I leave? How do find joy in my job even though I do not necessarily want to leave it? How do I maintain hope as I look for another job?
How? By being the same person I have been up to this point. My love for others does not depend on my job. It does not depend on my title. It does not depend on my bank account. It does not depend on where I live. It depends on my belief. That belief does not change even when my circumstances do. My belief is that God has made me for a purpose. He has made everyone for a purpose. Right now my purpose is still to serve as manager of the Cafe. So I will do that. I will do that gladly. I will do it with joy.
Even with an uncertain future, I am certain of one thing. God's purpose for me does not cease when one particular job does. It is because of that belief I can carry on with hope and joy. So I will.
For those in Winnipeg, please continue to visit the Cafe. It truly is a remarkable place. The people working there are unlike anywhere else in the city. They are wonderful. I know I will.

And once again, it is so clear how amazing you are. In the midst of all of this, your biggest concern is not for yourself, but for the others who will be affected by this loss. B, the people who have had the chance to get to know you are so much better off for that opportunity. Those who don't realize that...well, it's definitely their loss!
